Our villa is on Sviracina bay-pronounced Svirachina -
(meaning Whistling Winds), and is part of the commune of Brusje - pron.
Brusiye – which is unlikely to appear on many maps of Croatia as it is
small, with only a post office and a couple of bars (though it does have a
very sweet Romanesque church).
Hvar town, the capital of the island of the same name, is 7
kms to the south of our bay; Starigrad in the opposite direction is the
island’s main port, and ferry boats to Split on the mainland arrive and
leave from both towns regularly (car ferry from Starigrad only). The
distance between the villa and the main road is in itself 2.5 kms along
the private road up from our bay.
